"Photography is over 180 years old yet relatively young as a collectible compared to other mediums. The recent record-setting Man Ray sale at Christie’s for $12.4 million this spring is a sign that photography has secured its place in the art world.I feel very lucky to have serendipitously landed on the gallery side of promoting and championing the medium while it was on the rise in the late 90s. I have been able to witness collections come full circle from the process of actively building and then deaccessioning. There is a joy and curiosity that inspires the act of collecting and I experience that every time I am invited to evaluate a collector’s unique trove of art.As works from some of the pioneer photography collectors now come on the market, it is an exciting time for new admires of the medium. The works in our 8thannual Private Collections Salon & Sale come from collections throughout the country. Some have been enjoyed and protected for over 50 years. It includes vintage photographs by Alfred Stieglitz, one of the most important figures in promoting the medium, to contemporary sold-out works by some of the most relevant contemporary photographers today."
